American Express Unexpectedness
I got my American Express bill today and in another envelope was an offer from AMEX to increase my credit and even more generously lower my interest rate to 10.99%. I called them on it and though I’m pre-approved they could rescind the offer if they find something unexpected in my credit report.
This surprised me as I’m unemployed and have been for many months. I basically never carry a balance and until I went back to school to do my MBA at the Sauder School of Business I never had any student debt or any long term debt at all. If anything my financial situation is worse now than it was a year ago, but I have a piece of paper.
I wish things could be better, maybe someone else still does too, but some people are satisfied with the status quo, perhaps I should have yelled and screamed. I thought telling the truth was enough. I thought trying to help someone who said they were my friend was the right thing to do.
Others did too… but they were silent or silenced.
I tried to tell Salena that people who used Amex were a better class of people. ;-) I don’t have a black Amex card, I saw one on TV once while I lived in Japan. It was some sort of Japanese Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, I don’t remember the balance, but it was a lot.
Florida State is going to beat Ohio State the way things are going, I think I cursed Ohio State by emailing someone I know who studied there, wishing them “good luck”. I can’t even wish someone good luck…
