Overdue Blog Posting
There are several things I’ve been meaning to write about that have happened in my life, or the world, or just the internet. I have told the story several times in real life, but sometimes it is best not to blog. I keep saving internet articles in tabs in Opera to blog about, but I never seem to find the time and energy. This lunch hour I guess is it.
First of all most at BOB are tired from running at least part of the Sun Run on Sunday. I’m not in the best shape, but I didn’t push myself too much and walked close to a third I’d say. There were over 55,000 people at the event. I also ran with little training and having drank my share of 5 pitchers the night before during the UFC PPV, which was kinda lame, to join the chorus of criticism leveled at the main event.
It was a busy week with Plan-It Hastings and the Turbonegro concert, I even got punched in the side of the head by some chump who doesn’t know how to behave at a concert, choking people is not friendly. After the second time I shook some sense into him, but I swear the next time someone punches me in the head, I may not let them off with anything less than re-constructive surgery. I didn’t want to get kicked out of the Commodore so I just held him down until he realized what an ASS he was and people escorted him far away from me and the other people to the left of the stage.
Turbo was good, but not as good as last time. No Prince of the Rodeo and no Rune Rebellion, plus one of the Marshall amps was on the fritz.
April Smith is writing prolifically about the DTES and was interviewed in the Georgia Straight recently. She attends most events in the neighborhood and has blogged about a few put on by me (with the help of dozens of course), even scarier I now have a tag on WordPress.com named after me…
I’ve actually been tasked with setting up a new blog about Greening the Inner-city here in Vancouver, so I’ll be contributing to that. Challenging times at Building Opportunities with Business, not even counting the damn DNS not working…
There are more than a few bloggers in the DTES, some of whom even met Robert Pickton back in the day. For the record I met Raincoaster in a bar after our ICT Cluster Kickoff event.

I was going to write a whole bit on how not to get ahead in blogging. I even had a screen shot from Minna Van’s blog, which hasn’t been updated since 2007 if you’re counting. They must be busy, but they still should do a better job of communicating especially with people they want to write for free for their website.

The other thing I took a picture of was someone called Legion3000 surfing my website, after he took me to task about the “lumpiness” of my painting. I asked him about the tutorials he’s written, or the awards he’d won or even pictures of his models. After looking at the last Ork I painted which is approaching a year ago, he dropped out of the thread. Someone else appeared but BoLS’s comment section isn’t the best place to have a discussion. Sometimes it doesn’t pay to say anything, especially online.
Although it has nothing to do with me or the stuff I usually blog about. I read this story after it was linked to on Sherdog of all places. It is about a family that takes a chimp into their home. It is worth the read and doesn’t end how you might first suspect…
Astronomi-con Toronto was this weekend, hopefully some results will appear online. I did no painting at all, never even primed my models. Next weekend is a lost cause, the next two in fact due to training and family, so I have to really pick up the tempo after work. I have about two months, we’ll see how Malcolm and Jason do…
