Local, Live, and Loud

Howdy folks. It appears I’m being called to once again write the greatest blog post ever written, or at least this one. I won’t claim to be an audiophile but I have seen a pile of concerts and I still buy music, a rarer and rarer phenomenon. Once again the premature death of live music in Vancouver has been overstated as these shows reveal.
Burnin’ Down the Biltmore this week is Wil
Hoping to create his own ring of fire onstage, only to be physically restrained by Zak who still has nightmares from dealing with the local permitting process. Vancouver instead has to settle for Wil’s performance on November 14th sans flames but with the British Columbians.
Early show, tickets at Zulu, Redcat and elsewhere. 14 bucks for your regular booster shot of roots rock.
Rockin’ the Rickshaw

Continuing the invasion over the Rockies is Edmonton’s Shout Out Out Out Out. So if you’re itching to bust a move or just like bands with “Out” in the title, head on down to Hastings and Main on Friday the 13th. Be sure and not tell your grandparents you’re spending the night in the Downtown Eastside.
I can’t wait for the Library Voices, Shout Out Out Out Out double bill, pity the sound man. Shout Outs to Malice, David Duprey, and beef taco supreme for the photo. Word!

Rollin’ at the Railway
Capade is having their CD release party on the 12th if you want to start your weekend early. One of the openers is Tea who lists her influence as Rachmaninoff and Leonard Cohen. She’s a finalist in the Peak Performance Project and is looking for votes.
Looking Further Ahead
In order to avoid being violently assaulted by Wendy13 and her legion of punks, I should mention that she is promoting a show at the Biltmore headlined by the infamously offensive DayGlow Abortions. Also hopefully on the bill is Mr. Plow, Vancouver’s own hardcore troubadour. Take that Steve Earle!
