Tracking social media button clicks in Google Analytics

Wednesday, October 2nd, 2013

The best way to track social media button clicks is to use a plugin in your CMS, I use Professional Share on this blog. It has most every feature I want except support for Twitter Cards. I’m hoping the author will add Twitter Card Support as he already supports Facebook Open Graph meta data. Sometimes you don’t have the luxury of a plugin or content management system, I took one of my oldest webpages, a webpage I’ve been maintaing for over a dozen years and I added structured meta data and social media buttons which track in Google Analytics…

RSS Feed from Twitter Search with PHP

Monday, March 4th, 2013

Twitter is removing support for RSS feeds in a few days. If you actually used the RSS feed feature of the original Twitter API this is disappointing. Twitter wants to know who is making every single request to their API whereas RSS is fairly anonymous…

Superbowl hammers home superiority of Twitter

Monday, February 4th, 2013

I wasn’t the first to say it, but it is something I’ve noticed for a long time in my own social media usage, Twitter is #winning. Tuesday, March 15th, 2011

I did something similar around the end of the year, but those posts were the most popular.  Popularity online seems to almost directly correlate with pictures I repost from forums.  In fact I seem to […]

albumCollection.php is starting to come together

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

I never set out to write this much PHP code. But after seeing what passes for a PHP API to access Amazon Product Information, well I vowed to do a good job on my PHP class, even though it was intended for my own personal use. I had modest goals at the beginning I just wanted to take a list of CDs I own and produce a gallery of album covers…
