LinkedIn Phishing Scam?

Wednesday, March 6th, 2013

This morning I got a rather odd email purporting to be from LinkedIn’s Marketing department. It made it through all my filters and the headers look reasonable, but based on the poor formatting of the email and the fact I’ve been on LinkedIn a long time, I don’t think it is completely on the level…

“I told you so!”

Tuesday, May 24th, 2011

LinkedIn recently had it’s IPO and miraculously it kept going up even after the IPO price had been increased several times.  This seemed to have surprised some onlookers and doomsayers will talk of another ‘tech bubble’.  I don’t think that is likely to happen again as too many people learned too many lessons, however greed is greed. I of course was not surprised at LinkedIn’s success I’ve been using and writing about LinkedIn for years (since 2005 when this blog began).  In fact I’m on record as saying it is the best or most useful social network and I’m a […]

Overdue for an update perhaps

Sunday, September 5th, 2010

I haven’t been terribly productive the last few days. I keep putting in the time looking for work. I’ve applied for more jobs, I’ve added people to my LinkedIn network, I’ve kept in touch with some former colleagues and classmates who have their eyes and ears and open too. I actually have an interview on Tuesday, but I’m not sure what to expect out of that. I’m still waiting to hear back from some other firms, including the firm I interviewed with last. I’m at Bean Around the World on Main at Broadway because if I just set around the […]

Job search update

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

I actually have an interview tomorrow, the company in question got my application and the next day contacted me and the day after we’re sitting down to talk. I wish more companies could be like that. Even if I don’t get the job, just knowing I was considered seriously and not just filed in some database somewhere… I’m still waiting to hear back from another firm that was excited to have me in for an interview, but now things may have changed. I was talking to the manager of Bean Around the World at Main and Broadway where I do […]

Another new LinkedIn feature

Sunday, May 20th, 2007

While checking for someone on LinkedIn.com I discovered LinkedIn had added another new feature. This feature was already available on Xing.com and is found on some other online social networks. Basically what LinkedIn is now allowing you to know is who is looking at your profile…

LinkedIn.com Answers

Tuesday, March 6th, 2007

In yet another example of Nietzsche’s Eternal Return of the Same, I’ve written about LinkedIn.com Answers before. I’ve even written about another site, MarketingProfs.com that provides a venue for asking questions then attempts to reward the people that give out the best answers…

More LinkedIn.com Observations

Thursday, January 4th, 2007

Now I’ve written about LinkedIn.com and online social networks before, but once again I returned to the site after a few days or weeks absence and I noticed a few new things. One is the addition of LinkedIn Answers both to the homepage and as a new navigational tab. This prominent new feature which allows you to poll your extended network for help and advice is not without its’ liabilities. Some people have taken to ‘spamming’ or posting less than well thought out queries, there are even threads online already on how to prevent this…
