Gaming in Nanaimo

I went to Nanaimo to visit Thor, the Thor I went to the see Gwar with not Thor who opened for Gwar. I moved him to Nanaimo during my MBA, during exams. I always stupidly help people.

He asked me to bring my Bloodbowl team, but we never played that game. We did play Carcassone and Katamari Damacy. I managed to get a ball over 800m in diameter, we never played battle mode. Owen supposedly turned him on to those two games. Bree even called while I was there.

We talked about Warhammer/40K neither of us seem to be playing or painting but I took some snaps of some of the miniatures he had lying around. He actually has several large armies for 40K which he is in the process of finishing off and unlike me he actually talks of starting a new army. I only plan to paint stuff I already own. I don’t think I’d ever start a new army or a new miniature game, I just don’t have the time. I need to optimize my painting and lower my standards if I ever hope to get my Chaos Space Marine Army and my fantasy stuff done as it is.

Owen still works for GW that is probably why I’ve stuck with the games as long as I have but he lived in Ontario for years and I gave so much of my life to MBA and CFA® Program studies. I’m not sure if I’ll ever get back into tabletop gaming heavily but I would like to paint again, though I fear my skills have degraded.

It took moving back to Calgary for me to resume painting and playing 40K. In that time Thor had moved back to Vancouver then back to Nanaimo. I’m not sure how much he games now, maybe next year I’ll have to try and host a game of Warhammer 40,000 at my mom’s house, this year we are still dealing with Covid and I just spent several days updating all my old posts about painting miniatures.

We might have to do a smaller scale game than 40K maybe Kill Team, try to get the old gang together before my mom sells her house in Deep Bay.
