I watched his funeral the other day on TV. I missed much of the music but I caught Jesse Jackson’s and pretty much every other speech. I’m actually a big fan of the old school funk. James Brown isn’t a saint, he was domineering and undereducated. His songwriting was very organic, often he would come to the studio with a few scraps of lyrics and he would build the song up. He’d get the drummer going on the dishwasher rhythm, add in the bass, the chicka chicka guitar then have the horn section make up the bridge and the rest of their parts…

2006 was largely a waste, I finished my MBA but I still haven’t recovered. One thing I did do was write a lot of crap in this blog. Most of it isn’t of interested to anyone or at least very, very, very few people. Sometimes it is better to say nothing than to speak the truth. However, the truth doesn’t go away just because no one speaks it…

I just watched “The Big Lebowski” again. I was going to watch it last night, but I discovered my VCR was dead. My mom thinks it was killed by some sort of power surge as it has hardly been used. It wasn’t one of our recent storms, but rather died while I was in China. No one had noticed until now…
